Open dates 2026: Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd March 2026 This event is now guaranteed to run! The Brenig Way is one of Denbighshire’s best point-to-point trails, it is 51km (32 miles) long and climbs around 1500m over its length. The route begins in the Dee Valley town of Corwen and takes a snaking but logical line through peaceful villages and extensive forests to reach the well known lake of Llyn Brenig. The terrain is made up of forest tracks, farmland footpaths and minor lanes. Walking from the historic town of Corwen, with its connections to the legendary Owain Glyndŵr, Prince of Wales, we start with a short section along the River Dee to the village of Cynwyd. From Cynwyd there are a couple of hills and valleys to cross before heading north with more riverside paths along the Afon Alwen & Clwyd, the terrain then changes rapidly as we enter the huge Clocaenog Forest. After almost 10km of quiet forest tracks we pass through the riverside village of Cyffylliog, here the river Afon Clywedog takes us back into the forest climbing steadily to our destination, Llyn Brenig. The final stretch of our route is alongside the lake shore and over the impressive dam to the Llyn Brenig visitor centre where you might be lucky enough to see the resident Ospreys. Day 1: We start in Corwen at 9am and walk for up to around 8 hours along the first 30km of the trail, finishing close to the village of Clocaenog on the edge of the Clocaenog Forest itself. There are nearby accommodation options available but it is recommended to enquire & book well in advance. Day 2: Back on the trail after a good overnight rest, we start again at around 9am and have a slightly shorter day covering around 20km over 6 hours to Llyn Brenig. If necessary, we are able to assist with transport options back to your vehicle or accommodation. What's Included: Two days of guided walking from a qualified, experienced & insured mountain leader in a small group. Assistance with local travel if necessary at the start/end of each stage including luggage. You must arrange your own accommodation & food, contact for any help. Required Experience: Fit & healthy hill walkers with experience of walking over 25km in a day. Individual bookings: Spaces are £145 per person and the full balance is payable at the time of booking.
