• Ultra-Endurance (Single Day): These are continuous "big days" out, usually covering 40km (25 miles) or more in one push. These often involve 12 to 24 hours of moving time which is perfect for those testing their physical and mental limits.

• Multi-Day Expeditions: We break the distance down over several days, often involving mountain wild camps or local accommodation. This allows you to truly immerse yourself in the landscape.

Will I need to train?

The best way to prepare for the mountains is to spend time in the mountains. A solid baseline of cardiovascular fitness and leg strength is essential for an enjoyable day on the hill.

• Challenge Events: For my single-day endurance challenges, I recommend that you have completed a hike covering at least 50% of the target distance on similar terrain within the last couple of months.

• The Welsh 3000s & Hiraethog Trail: These are elite-level days. If you are booking these, your training should focus on sustained ascent and "time on feet" to prepare for 16–24 hours of movement.

• Bespoke Advice: I’m always happy to discuss your current fitness levels and suggest a "stepping stone" peak if you're building up to a bigger goal.

How do I get back to the start? Is the route supported?

Logistics vary depending on the length and nature of the challenge:

• Point-to-Point Challenges: For routes that don't finish where they start, I can advise on the best local transport options or help coordinate logistics between participants' vehicles before the day begins.

• Mid-Way Support: For my premier single-day endurance challenges (like the 45k Sea to Summit), I typically arrange for a support vehicle to meet us at a strategic mid-way point.

• The Benefit of Support: This pit-stop allows you to refuel, drop or swap kit, and have a brief rest. It also serves as a mobile safety hub for the event.

Please note that for insurance and legal reasons, I do not provide a taxi or shuttle service for participants. All transport arrangements are coordinated as part of the pre-event logistics.
