Welsh 3000s Challenge // 3 day

Join Mountain Craft for a THREE DAY challenge on the classic Welsh 3000's route. If the 24 hour challenge doesn't appeal to you and you would rather take your time then a 3 day itinerary is a great option for fit & experienced mountain walkers. The route is sometimes referred to as the Welsh 14, 15 or even 16 peaks if the tops of Castell y Gwynt & Carnedd Gwenllian are included. The latter we will summit anyway as part of our route whereas Castell y Gwynt is an optional scramble on the Glyderau plateau. The route can be broken into three logical stages of the three mountain ranges: Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon, Glyderau and Carneddau. The three stages are listed below along with route length, ascent, time & summit names - the flexibility of a three day challenge allows us to re-order the days if the weather or conditions favour a different day for Crib Goch for example. Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon - 12km - 900m ascent - 7 hours. Crib Goch: 923m Garnedd Ugain/Crib y Ddysgl: 1065m Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon: 1085m Glyderau - 15km - 1700m ascent - 8-9 hours Elidir Fawr: 924m Y Garn: 947m Glyder Fawr: 1001m (Castell y Gwynt: 972m) Glyder Fach: 994m Tryfan: 918m Carneddau - 22km - 1300m ascent - 8-9 hours Pen yr Ole Wen: 978m Carnedd Dafydd: 1044m Yr Elen: 962m Carnedd Llewellyn: 1064m Foel Grach: 976m Carnedd Gwenllian: 926m Foel Fras: 942m What's Included: Three days of guiding on the mountains from qualified, experienced & insured mountain leaders in small groups. Assistance with local travel if necessary at the end of each stage. You must arrange your own accommodation & food, contact for any help. Required Experience: Fit mountain walkers with a head for heights and some experience scrambling can consider this event. You must consider that you will be walking three long days in a row, one of these days has a considerable total ascent of 1700 metres.
