Cadair Idris: The Chair of the Giant 2026 Open Group Dates: Bank Holiday Monday 4th May 2026 Saturday 15th August 2026 £75 per person | Small Group Journey | Guaranteed to Run Cadair Idris is simply legendary. Towering above Dolgellau and the Mawddach estuary, this long, ridge-like massif dominates the southern reaches of Eryri. While it sits just under the 3,000ft mark at 893m, its prominence is staggering. It is one of only five mountains in North Wales with a drop of over 600m to its nearest neighbor, giving it a true high mountain feel. THE ROUTE: Starting and finishing in Minffordd, our circular traverse aims to visit the most spectacular high points of the range. The route is approximately 11km long with 1100m of total ascent. The terrain is rocky and uncompromisingly mountainous, though it lacks the technical scrambling found on our Grade 1 events. We will summit four major peaks: Craig Cwm Amarch (791m), Cyfrwy (811m), Penygadair (893m), and Mynydd Moel (863m). CORE HIGHLIGHTS: Llyn Cau: Peer down from the crags into the enchanting glacial waters of the crater-like lake below. The Western Arm: Watch the ridge sweep out toward the sea at Cardigan Bay.
