Llangollen Round 52k Challenge
Open events 2026: Saturday 28th March 2026 This event is now guaranteed to run! Originally devised by the local community as an event to raise money for Cancer Research UK, The Llangollen Round is now a well established and waymarked trail. Over its 51km (32 miles) the round ascends all of the major hills and summits that surround the town of Llangollen as well as some nationally important and outstanding historical sites. Some stand-out features include: Thomas Telford’s incredible Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, The Horseshoe Pass, Trevor Rocks and the round’s high point of Moel Fferna at 630m. We start and finish in the Dee Valley village of Trevor with a target time of 12 hours, though being a circuitous walk, we could feasibly start the route elsewhere such as the Horseshoe Pass. Ascending approximately 2000 metres over heather, grass and tracks, the Llangollen round is a strenuous route at times. Depending on the needs of the group, we can help arrange connecting transport, there will also be a support vehicle stationed on the route to provide refreshments and kit changes. What's Included: A full day of guided walking from a qualified, experienced & insured mountain leader in a small group. Assistance with local travel if necessary at the beginning and end of the challenge. Support vehicle at 3x checkpoints. Water refills, hot drinks and first aid assistance will be available - plus you can leave an extra bag with spare kit & clothing. You must arrange your own accommodation & food, contact for any help. Required Experience: Fit mountain/hill walkers & runners with experience of routes over 30km can consider signing up.
