For all rock climbing sessions - whether we are at an indoor wall or on a mountain crag - I provide the essential technical safety equipment, including:

• Provided Gear: Professional-grade harnesses, helmets, ropes, and hardware.

• What You Bring: Comfortable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear (approach shoes or trainers). If we are climbing outdoors, waterproof layers are a must.

• Your Own Gear: If you have your own climbing shoes or harness you'd like to use, I am happy to inspect them for suitability on the day.

Do I need any experience to book a climbing session?

Whether you are a total beginner or an indoor climber looking to transition to real rock, I have a session for you:

• Introduction to Rock Climbing: Absolutely no experience is required. These sessions are designed for beginners and focus on safe movement, basic knots, and the buzz of reaching the top.

• Family Climbing Sessions: These are tailored to be engaging and fun for all ages. I use accessible crags (or indoor walls by arrangement) with simple approaches, making it an ideal first taste of climbing for children and parents alike.

• Bespoke Private Sessions: If you have some basic skills but want to work on something specific, like movement coaching or building confidence, I can tailor the day to your current level.

Where are the climbing sessions based?

I offer a mix of fixed-location sessions and mobile guiding across North Wales:

• Family Climbing: These sessions are based in the Betws-y-Coed and Capel Curig areas. Outdoor sessions take place at local crags within a short walk from the road, while indoor sessions are held at Plas y Brenin (National Outdoor Centre).

• Discover Rock Climbing: These private days offer maximum flexibility. I can meet you at world-class crags across Eryri (Snowdonia), including popular spots near Llanberis, Llandudno, or Bala. I can tailor the location to suit your accommodation or travel plans.

• Weather Flexibility: If the mountain weather is unsuitable for an outdoor session, we have the option to move to a coastal crag or an indoor wall to ensure your day still goes ahead.

What if it's raining?

While mountain weather can be unpredictable, a rainy forecast doesn't necessarily mean your session is cancelled. We have several excellent alternatives to ensure you still get your time on the rock:

• Chasing the Sun: North Wales has several micro-climates. If it's raining in the mountains of Eryri, it’s often dry on the coastal limestone crags of Llandudno or Anglesey.

• Indoor Climbing: For family sessions or intro days, we can move to a high-quality indoor climbing wall (like Plas y Brenin). This is a great way to focus on technique and movement in a dry, comfortable environment.

• Safety First: In the rare event of extreme weather (such as thunderstorms or extreme weather warnings) that makes any climbing unsafe, we will discuss rescheduling or a refund as per my Booking Terms & Conditions.(https://www.mountaincraft.co.uk/booking-terms-and-conditions)

I monitor the forecast closely in the days leading up to our session and will always contact you in advance to discuss the best plan for the conditions.
