The Equinox Blackout: Eryri 2026

365 British pounds
Eryri/Snowdonia

The Lab is Mountain Craft’s small experimental strand for rougher, stranger mountain days. The experiment numbers simply mark the order they were created. Tuesday 22nd to Wednesday 23rd September 2026 12:00pm Tuesday to 12:00pm Wednesday The autumn equinox falls inside this window at 1:06am BST on Wednesday 23rd September. £365 per person | 4 places only | The Lab: Experiment 002 The first Blackout took place at summer solstice: 24 hours in the hills, phones handed over, no personal cameras, location released shortly before, and camp chosen on the mountain. This is the autumn equinox version, built around equal light and dark, route uncertainty, rough ground, silence and deliberate friction. This will not be for everyone. But for the right person, the appeal will probably be obvious. THE BLACKOUT Your phone goes into secure storage before we leave. No messages. No scrolling. No checking in. No personal photos. No outside contact. Emergency communication remains available through Mountain Craft using satellite communication. THE LOCATION The route will not be made public. You will receive the meeting location and final logistics shortly before the event. Expect rough mountain terrain, uncertain lines, slow movement, and decisions made around the weather, ground and group. THE CAMERA No personal cameras. The group will carry one shared field camera. After the event, each participant will receive one physical print. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE You need solid hill fitness and must be comfortable carrying your own overnight bivi or small tent setup over rough mountain terrain. You do not need to be fast, but you do need to be steady, resilient, and willing to accept uncertainty. Not suitable for beginners. CORE HIGHLIGHTS • Actual autumn equinox moment in the hills • 24 hours without your phone • No personal cameras • No public route • Maximum 4 clients • Camp chosen on the hill • Rough terrain and route uncertainty • One shared field camera • One physical print INCLUDED Guiding, phone storage, satellite communication, mountain leadership, route planning, shared field camera, one physical print and kit/logistics info.
