Rhinog Fawr & Rhinog Fach: A Rhinogydd Introduction 2026 Open Group Date: Monday 3rd August 2026 £75 per person | Small Group Journey | Guaranteed to Run A focused mountain day taking in the two classic northern summits of the Rhinogydd: Rhinog Fawr and Rhinog Fach. This is a good introduction to the range, but not an easy walk. The route is around 12–13km, but the ground makes it feel much bigger than it looks on paper. Expect steep sections, rough rock, heather, boulders, awkward little steps and slow-going terrain. It is nowhere near as brutal as the full Rhinogydd 700m round, but it still gives a proper taste of why this range has such a serious reputation. THE ROUTE Starting from the Bronaber / A470 side, we’ll make a rough mountain journey into the northern Rhinogydd, linking Rhinog Fawr and Rhinog Fach in a full-value day. The exact line will depend on the weather, group and underfoot conditions, but expect a physical day on broken, uneven mountain ground. HIGHLIGHTS A proper Rhinogydd introduction: A strong first taste of the range without committing to the full four-summit 700m round. Rougher mountain ground: This is not a smooth path day. The terrain is awkward, physical and very different from the busier Eryri routes. Quiet, wild atmosphere: The Rhinogydd feel separate from the main mountain traffic. Expect fewer people, bigger silence and a more remote feel. Big views: On a clear day, views stretch towards Cadair Idris, the Mawddach, the Irish Sea and the northern 3000s. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE You should be a reasonably fit hillwalker and comfortable on steep, rough and uneven ground. You do not need previous Rhinogydd experience, but you should be happy with pathless sections, rocky steps and a slower, more physical pace than the distance suggests. This is a good first Rhinogydd day. It is not a casual low-level walk. WHAT’S INCLUDED A full day of expert guiding in a small group. Coaching on movement, pacing and route judgement on rough mountain ground. Pre-event advice on kit, travel and local logistics. PRIVATE BOOKINGS Looking for a bespoke date or private group?
