Eryri / Snowdonia – final meeting point confirmed 48–72 hours before
INTRODUCTION TO SCRAMBLING
£95 per person | Maximum 6 | Jacob or Rich-led
A full mountain day for people who are comfortable walking in the hills and want to start moving confidently on steeper, rockier ground.
This is about learning the fundamentals of scrambling on approachable Grade 1 terrain before progressing towards objectives such as Tryfan’s North Ridge, Crib Goch and other classic mountain scrambles.
2027 OPEN GROUP DATE
Sunday 18th April 2027
THE DAY
The exact route will be chosen around the weather, ground conditions and the group.
Possible venues include Moel Siabod, the Glyderau, Lliwedd and other suitable Grade 1 terrain across Eryri.
Expect a proper mountain day involving steep ground, hands-on movement and plenty of time to practise rather than simply being guided over a fixed route.
WHAT WE’LL WORK ON
Secure footwork on rock.
Effective hand placement.
Balance and body position.
Choosing sensible lines through broken terrain.
Moving efficiently without rushing.
Understanding when to walk, scramble or slow things down.
Building confidence on steeper and more exposed ground.
WHO IT’S FOR
You should already have reasonable hill fitness and experience of full mountain days on steep, rocky and uneven terrain.
Previous scrambling experience is not required.
This is designed specifically as the step between ordinary mountain walking and more exposed Grade 1 objectives.
HOW WE MANAGE THE DAY
Groups are kept small, with careful pacing and plenty of space for coaching.
The terrain and level of challenge can be adjusted around the group throughout the day.
Days may be delivered by Jacob, Mountain Craft’s founder and lead instructor, or Rich, Mountain Craft’s Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor, depending on the date.
PRIVATE BOOKINGS
Prefer to build confidence at your own pace or work towards a particular scramble?
Private Mountain Days and scrambling progression are available throughout the year from £375.
