The Nantlle Ridge: End-to-end
NEW OPEN EVENT DATES ADDED: Thursday 24th July 2025 Friday 8th August 2025 These events are now guaranteed to run! The Nantlle Ridge is a classic but unique mountain route on the very western edge of Eryri/Snowdonia. There is a perfect balance of accessible walking with a mix of hands-on-rock scrambling that is never too difficult. The Nantlle Ridge is a satisfying line that runs the entire length of the valley and should be on everyone's list. Meeting in the Gwynedd village of Rhyd Ddu we will be walking along the Nantlle Ridge end-to-end to the small village of Nebo. We will discuss travel arrangement & plans in advance as it will be necessary to get back up the valley to collect vehicle(s). Following the ridge in it's entirety is around 15km with 1000m of ascent as we cross the 7 summits along the way, the highest point being Craig Cwm Silyn at 734m. The terrain consists of rocky mountain paths, grassy & heather ridges plus some simple scrambling that can be avoided if necessary. From the start at Rhyd Ddu there is a fairly steep start up to the first summit, Y Garn, but from then on the ridge is undulating with only 100 metres or so climbed for each of the remaining summits. This stunning ridge walk looks out west towards the Irish Sea & the incredible Llyn Peninsula for most of its way, with Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon in view over your shoulder. Many people say that they have completed the Nantlle Ridge but it is often cut short to return to the start which is a shame. Make the most of being guided along the whole ridge! Private bookings: If you would like to book a private guided day on The Nantlle Ridge then please browse availability and book under Activities > Scrambling & Rock Climbing > Discover Scrambling. Individual bookings: Spaces are £60 per person and are available to be booked right now, once you have booked on one of our open events your place is guaranteed.
